Objective: To learn the different architectural styles found in house design. After learning these typologies students will be able to choose one that best fits the mold of their dream house and then find a photograph using this newly learned vocabulary that best reflects the description they write.  Competency: Through the critique process, the student uses analytical vocabulary in verbal and written form to compare the integral role of art in society both past and present.  Plan: 1) Warm up 2 min  2) Lesson 8 min  3) Short Activity: Have students list things they would want in their dream home. 3 Min 4) Share: Give students 2 min to share their thoughts

   1      November 16, 2021   Beauty in Madness  Ruiyan Qi   I grew up seeing the painting The Starry Night everywhere around me and I always thought it was beautiful although I did not pay much attention to it. It was only after studying the piece of art by Van Gogh that I got to appreciate it. I understood the experiences of the man behind the art and what he was going through at the time and got to appreciate the amount of beauty that comes from negative experiences. Van Gogh was in an asylum when he painted The Starry Night, he was undergoing treatment for a mental illness. He was able to observe the night sky from his room and that is how he was able to paint the magnificent painting that is widely celebrated in the world today.  The painting represents the post-impressionist period that made art of short brushstrokes, use of color and a focus on mood. I chose this piece because it represents how much can be achieved through a state that is considered madness. Van G
