Lesson Title: Dream Home
Course Subject: Visual Arts
Grade Level 5, Visual arts class

Component: Recognizes Differences in architectural styles (VA.C.1.2.1).
Objective: To learn the different architectural styles found in house design. After learning these typologies students will be able to choose one that best fits the mold of their dream house and then find a photograph using this newly learned vocabulary that best reflects the description they write.
Competency: Through the critique process, the student uses analytical vocabulary in verbal and written form to compare the integral role of art in society both past and present.
Plan:
1) Warm up 2 min
2) Lesson 8 min
3) Short Activity: Have students list things they would want in their dream home. 3 Min
4) Share: Give students 2 min to share their thoughts with the class.
5) Final Activity: Using their newly learned vocabulary and list have students research and located a photograph of a house that best represents their dream home.
6) Exit Ticket/ Assessment: Have students post their photo on discussion board.
Assessment: See if students are successfully able to locate a photo of a dream home based on their new knowledge of housing styles.

Objective: Students will be able to identify healthy vs unhealthy foods and how to create a healthy meal.
Competency: The student will place pictures of foods on the food pyramid. The student will demonstrate that practicing good health habits can provide people with physical energy, which is needed for school, work, and play.
Activity: Show students presentation and video first. Then, have students seperate into groups of 4-5 and create one healthy, nutrient dense meal idea using the information learned in presentation and video
Assessment: Each group will share what meal they came up with in their groups to the class and I.
