Our Enigma Project will be to focus on a community of American expats living in a specific part of the world (a specific country) of your choice as a group. 

Develop the different parts of the project addressed in the video, but adapted to the circumstances of our own class (context, time, resources).

Competency Based Curriculum

[Correlated to the Sunshine State Standards & the Grade Level Expectations]

 

1. Volumen III

 

2. Subject: Visual Arts

 

3. Level: Elementary

 

4. Grade: Grade 1

 

5. Component: I Aesthetic & Critical Inquiry

 

6. Objective(s): Makes and explains choices in his or her art work.

 

7. Competency: Through the critique process, the student can understand that works of art can be rendered realistically, symbolically, or abstractly.

 

8. Materials: Paper and pencil 

 

9. Activity: Every student will draw a symbol that they believe represents their life. For example, a heart can represent love and/ or kindness.

 

10. Assessment: Once the students are given a few minutes to pick and draw a symbol, the students will be put into breakout rooms for 5 minutes to discuss why they chose the symbol that they did and share it with each other. After the breakout rooms are over, the class can discuss as a whole and share their drawings with each other. When the activity is over, students will post a picture of their drawing on Blackboard and write a sentence or two about why they chose it.
